Another Successful Year

Once again our annual Kuhn Family Reunion was held in the basement of the Zion United Church of Christ. The reunion kicked off with our traditional pitch in dinner which included all the yummy family favorites. These ranged from chicken and noodles, pulled pork sandwiches, fried chicken, deviled eggs, baked beans, salads, pies, and cookies. Once our appetites were satisfied and we had caught up on some family gossip around the tables the business part of the reunion began. Allen Kuhn acted as chairman of the reunion this year, thank. Erin Garcia served as Secretary/Recorder and Kathy Wright as Treasurer.

Kathy Wright reported that the Treasury was down to $69.27. It was agreed on to donate $50.00 of this to Zion UCC for use of the basement again this year. A donation basket was passed around to rebuild the treasury. The newsletter from 2005-2006 along with a sign in sheet, address update sheet, and birth, death, marriage, special event sheet was passed around. One correction was made to the Newsletter. An addition was made to the History Book. An Edward W. Kerht of North Vernon, IN was added. He was related through Sophia Kuhn, and passed away in July 2007. Several people requested the second volume of the Kuhn history book. There were also several requests for the first volume by people who did not have either volume. John and Evonne Kuhn volunteered to serve as chairpersons for next year’s reunion which will be held September 7, 2008 at 1:00 PM. The reunion will continue to be held at Zion UCC. We thank John and Evonne for volunteering for this. Also thank you to everyone for attending and for continuing to update the address and email data base.

A touching memorial was given by Katherine for Eva Kuhn who passed away on August 25, 2007 at the age of 99. Eva was also wished a Happy Birthday for the last time as today, September 9, 2007, would have been her 100^th birthday. Fond memories of Eva and Clyde were shared by the group and a wonderful poem was read.

Fun and Games

This year the reunion was spiced up a bit with the addition of two fun games. The group participated in “Family Bingo” where there was a mad 5 minute scramble to find family members who fit categories on the bingo board. Then there was “Oldest Member Present Trivia” in which everyone answered questions about Gladys Kuhn age 88 who was the oldest member of the family present this year. This was followed by the sharing of funny stories and memories about Gladys and Otis throughout the years such as the “egg car wreck”, “her yellow hair”, ”Paul, the missing boy”, and “Pepsi on the cornbread.”
